Dave Nitsche: Fine Art photography

Dave Nitsche started off from the typical family photo-taker to someone who had sparked an interest in the area of staged studio photography. After practicing photo shoots regularly three years in a row, his work started to become noticed by the public. He never found interest in shooting the figure or a human subject. Rather, he wanted to use human emotions and bring them out with inanimate objects. His concept is really unique in that we find it so easy sometimes to use facial expressions to show emotion through images. Dave is taking a whole different approach by evoking emotion through the staging of objects. And to top it off he doesn’t use your typical doll to evoke an emotion of creepy or cute, he uses objects that are very plain, simple, and to the point. By taking this approach, his images become successful by having very simple objects to evoke a straight forward emotion. I also find his work very intriguing because he uses bright vibrant colors with his objects while also having subtle shades giving the overall composition a high contrast. You can tell that he uses the studio very well and makes good use of his lighting as well as his shadows.

  2. This is definitely a guy with crazy skill. Photographing glass that cleanly and all of the shiny material is a challenge. There’s nice gradients of white and gray in the back too.
