Odds and Ends

So I wanted to do something different and have really been inspired by my classmates documentary work of their adventures. I decided to take pictures around my boyfriend’s land. It used to be his grandparents, and includes 3 big barns that boarded horses, a chicken shed, a tool shed, and a wood shed, as well as a little outhouse. When his grandparents moved out they had left all their unwanted things, junk… behind. I found it very fun to go around and explore all the things that once had a purpose and a place, and now seem as if they are forgotten or left behind as we do with many things in our life. We find things or value to us or that seem like they have worth and over time we find ourselves leaving them behind and seeing them as valueless. I found the Outhouse to be one of the most interesting because of the creep factor it gives me. It was handmade and built to be functional and is now very dirty, grungy and covered in a chaos of webs and dead bugs. Lastly, there was a sign on one of the doors of the tool shed that states “help keep this place clean” which I found rather ironic since they left their trash behind.
